Pair Arrested for Murder as Tributes Pour in for 'Top Lad' Simon

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Middlesbrough barber who died after suffering serious injuries.

A murder investigation has been launching following the suspicious death of Simon Bennett.

The 28-year-old was found with serious injuries in The Greenway, Thorntree, Middlesbrough, at 11.30pm on Thursday.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two men, aged 19 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being questioned in police custody.

And investigations continued into Mr Bennett's death last night.

Several officers could be seen r areas along Homerton Road - just a short distance away from where Mr Bennett was found with serious injuries.

There were several police vans in the area and the force's helicopter was also hovering above.

Officers could be seen look-k ing into drains in the search for evidence.

A spokesman for the force confirmed that the police presence in the area was in connection with the murder investigation.

Friends and family have spoken of their sadness and shock and hundreds of tributes have been posted on social networking sites.

Mr Bennett, known to friends as "Simo", and who is believed to have been a dad, worked as a barber and lived in the Netherfields area of Middlesbrough.

Friends on Facebook describe him as a "top lad".

One tribute said: "RIP to the cheekiest barber I've ever met. Simo Bennett, will miss you waving in the salon. Deepest sympathy to the family."

Another said: "Wow can't believe the text I woke up to. RIP Simo Bennett you're going to be missed by plenty, top lad."

One friend said: "RIP my mate. Going to miss your cheeky smile. Thinking of everybody who loved him God bless and sleep tight Simo Bennett."
