Clydesdales Too Slick in Trophy Final

THE Toowoomba Clydesdales not only took out the 47th Battalion Trophy representative carnival, but did it in style.

The Clydesdales made it two Central Division tournament victories in three years when they outclassed Bundaberg 38-4 in yesterday's final at Gladstone.

That win was the Clydesdales' fourth for the weekend as they won all of their matches over the two-day carnival.

Sean Loxley carved up in the final scoring three tries and his combination in the halves with Jason Wilmot (pictured), who was named Player of the Tournament, was one aspect of the great Clydesdales performance.

"To win a grand final 38-4 after four games was outstanding," proud Clydesdales coach Dean Bosnich said.

"Our boys over the whole game completed 92 per cent of their sets.

"It was really polished. We're proud of it."

The Clydesdales started the carnival with an important 22-16 win over hosts Gladstone on Saturday before blowing Northern Wide Bay off the park with a 42-0 demolition. …
