FRASER Coast businesses are benefiting from a range of new market intelligence tools giving them the competitive edge in an increasingly sophisticated corporate world.

Introduced by Fraser Coast Opportunities, the region's peak body for investment, tourism, events and marketing, the suite of free online tools have been heralded as a major boost for businesses and economic development across the region.

Fraser Coast Opportunities (FCO) general manager David Spear said the intelligence tools would greatly enhance the competitiveness of businesses of all sizes by helping them make more informed decisions.

FCO has commissioned leading demographer Informed Decisions to deliver this localised online intelligence.

"These market intelligence tools deliver a sophisticated new level of capability for FCO, the like of which has never been accessible on the Fraser Coast," Mr Spear said.

He said the online tools would enable FCO to provide businesses with historical data and forecast population and economic intelligence for the region, allowing them to better plan for future growth and expansion.

"Access will be available to anyone with the internet, allowing small and medium enterprises to generate their own tailored demographic reports specific to their business needs - a capability that until now has been largely beyond their reach."

Training workshops are currently being conducted by FCO Enterprise staff.

The tools consist of four web-based components, including:

acents Community profiling tool to generate suburb-based population profiles based on historical census data

acents Visual representation of socioeconomic data in a map-based format, including satellite and hybrid imagery

acents Access to economic information that describes the region's role within the broader economy, explores options for economic development and promotes the area's strengths

acents Tailored analysis of the drivers of population change in the community, including how the population, age structure and household types will change from year to year. …
