Time to Move after 8 Years

Article excerpt

DEBBIE is selling unit 4, 6 Mari St, Alexandra Headland

How long have you owned this property and where did you move from? My family have had this apartment for about eight years now. We would come over from New Zealand for holidays and while I was at university I'd be here for up to two months at a time. When my son and I moved to Australia in 2008 it went from being a holiday house to our home. We felt really blessed to have such a lovely place to call home.

What attracted you to this property? In the mid 2000s we were holidaying here at Alex and my dad was walking past The Mirage Alexandra Headland and said to mum that he'd love to own a unit in the building. Mum approached the managers and we ended up buying here and have been coming here ever since. The lady on the desk is now one of my best friends.

What room or where is your favourite space? Probably the deck because of the beautiful outlook yet it's also really private and peaceful. When the sun comes on to the deck it's a great place to lie and read. It's just beautiful. Being on the first floor we look out on to the pond and parkland which, it seems, few people know about.

What will you miss most? The location. Alexandra Headland is such a fun place to be, you can walk to great cafes, the surf club and the beach. We are tucked away just behind the esplanade which makes getting to nippers easy and ten pin bowling is next door. My son Lincoln actually holds several records for top bowler there. So I love the location of this apartment for the atmosphere and it is extremely quiet and peaceful as well. The windows are double glazed and there is soundproofing in the bedrooms so you can be among all that Alexandra Headland offers one minute and then secluded in another. It gives the best of both worlds.

How long did it take you to prepare the property for sale? We had a tenant in here and so we waited for him to vacate. The next day we moved our stuff back in and we had the agent here the following day. So it was very quick.

What did it take to be ready to show? We don't live here now so it's available for an inspection at a moment's notice.

How long have you been on the market? …
