Orchids on Show

Article excerpt

THIRTY-seven judges from as far as Rockhampton cast expert eyes over entries at the annual orchid show at the Gympie Garden Expo on May 3-4.

Once again societies from Glasshouse, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Nambour, Noosa, Hervey Bay and Maryborough joined to make a colourful and quality display.

A large crowd of visitors attended over the weekend, coming from far and wide.

The orchid shows staged on the Sunshine Coast are some of the most impressive shows in Australia because of the displays that neighbouring societies stage to help the host society. A strong spirit of fellowship exists between orchid growers in the area.

The most successful exhibitors were locals Doug and Lynne Wilson and John and Kaye Green.
