NEW South Wales residents are debt-conscious but appear to lack the financial know-how to grow their wealth, fresh findings from a nationwide survey of nearly 5000 Australians reveals.

The survey by GE Money showed NSW residents were the most likely of all Australians to actively avoid debt, with 70% of respondents describing themselves as "good with money".

Despite this, 63% of respondents from NSW didn't know the difference between a comparison rate and an interest rate and many (41%) responded that they wouldn't know where to begin to make their money work harder for them.

These recent findings have led GE Money to launch a new initiative - Art of Money - a quiz and content hub that aims to help everyday Aussies understand their finances.

With Art of Money, Australians will be able to determine their "money IQ" and find out where their financial strengths and weaknesses lie.
