Rain on Parade No Problem

LIGHT rain failed to deter thousands of people who lined Casino streets for the 32nd annual Beef Week parade.

After a slight delay due to the weather, a cattle parade led the way, followed by the float bearing Beef Week Queen Brooke Hancock.

It was a carnival atmosphere on Walker St as truck horns sounded while children waved from, and at, the procession of trucks.

Beef Week president Stuart George said the traditional parade was a great success despite the less-than-favourable weather.

"It was great, considering the day started out so wet. It ended up being a wonderful afternoon," he said.

People dressed as super heroes walked the street high-fiving those in the crowd as onlookers admired the procession of floats and vehicles.

The 2014 street parade featured floats representing everything from schools to community groups such as On Focus and the Casino BMX Club.

"We had a great response from the community with 58 floats, which was similar to the number we had last year," Mr George said. …
