Ipswich Grammar Keep GPS Football Title Hopes Alive

IPSWICH Grammar School's winning run continued last Saturday when they defeated Brisbane Grammar 2-1 at the BGS fields at Northgate.

The win keeps alive a slim chance of IGS winning the premiership provided the young team can maintain the streak. A few other results would also have to go Ipswich's way in the coming weeks.

Last Saturday's win showed the team had heart as they came from 1-0 down at halftime to win.

Despite being the more dominant team in the first half, Ipswich were unable to get on the scoreboard. Several opportunities were created however the BGS keeper made some excellent saves.

Brisbane made the most of their best chance and scored through a sharp "back heeler".

Ipswich coach Jamie Morgan remained upbeat at half-time as he realised IGS were the better team.

"Much of the first half was very positive from us however there was a phase we went through where we lost possession too quickly,'' Morgan said.
