MPs Mum on What Budget Might Deliver for Coast

SUNSHINE Coasters have been left in the dark as to whether Queensland Budget announcements tonight will include any major local spending.

No local MPs were able to answer questions about what spending items - if any - they had lobbied for in the budget.

All but Speaker Fiona Simpson (left) released a standard repeated government response.

"I'm confident that the budget will deliver benefits to my area and the region as we rebuild the Queensland economy," Ms Simpson said.

"I'll be happy to comment further when the budget is released."

Treasurer Tim Nicholls has also released very little about the budget.

"No cuts to services, nor will there be any new taxes, fees or charges in this year's budget," is all a tight-lipped Mr Nicholls would say.

Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie said the LNP was committed to revitalising front line services and cutting living costs for Queenslanders.

"It's a carefully balanced Budget that will deliver on the Government's strong plan for a brighter future to reduce the $80 billion of Labor debt,'' he said. …
