Salisbury Gold Rush Looms for Suroor's Hidden

HIDDEN Gold can make it two wins in as many outings as she lines up in the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners Margadale Fillies' Handicap at Salisbury this afternoon.

Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, her pedigree is not too far behind that of Derby hero Australia.

Sired by French Derby winner Shamardal out of Melikah, who was third in the Oaks and a half-sister to Sea The Stars and Galileo, Hidden Gold was surprisingly sent off at 7-1 on her first run.

That may have been because she was racing in a hood, and she did show some signs of greenness, but if they can be ironed out there should be even more improvement to come.

Racing over the same course and distance of 10 furlongs she faces here, this appears to be a competitive race for the money on offer - especially with John Gosden's Seagull in opposition.

However, the drop back in trip is unlikely to suit that rival, making Hidden Gold a strong fancy.

Clive Cox may hold the key elsewhere on the card.

In the opening first division of the Bathwick Tyres Maiden Auction Stakes his Little Palavar looks sure to be suited by the step up to six furlongs.

Second on his debut over the minimum trip at Goodwood when left trailing by a typical Richard Hannon flyer, he looked inexperienced in the early stages.

Once the penny dropped he stayed on nicely, suggesting he is capable of winning a maiden.

Cox's Debit was also second on debut at Chepstow and, while he will be no superstar on that evidence, this half-brother to Habaayib can put his experience to good use in the Bathwick Tyres Maiden.

Shades Of Grey, also runner-up when last seen, has strong claims of going one better in the ROA Owners Jackpot.

Lingfield's 32Red Casino Maiden Fillies' Stakes could be one to set the Sky Plus for.

There are 12 unraced juveniles lining up and some of the pedigrees on offer will have the bloodstock desks drooling. …
