TARYN Gollshewsky's place in the Australian athletics team as one of three women's discus throwers for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow isn't just reward for her hard work, it's the realisation of a little girl's life-long dream.

A few months ago Gollshewsky's mum, Tracy, brought out her daughter's Year Two school book and in it was written a wish so innocent the fact it has come true put more meaning on the selection.

Written in the back of the book was a[approximately]when I grow up I want to be an athlete and wear a cool tracksuit', and Gollshewsky said reading those words added a thrill to making her first senior team.

"This is like my dream come true, this is what I have imagined myself doing since I was a little girl," Gollshewsky said.

"And I'm going to get a cool tracksuit and a cool uniform.

"This is my dream and I can't even fathom it has come true."

Gollshewsky, who has been competing since she was eight and under coach Les Kuorikoski since she was 12, won her first Australian title when she was 13 and has been part of the national scene since. …
