FOR 18 years the Gympie and District Collectables Association Arms and Collectables Fair has come to town, and it just gets bigger and bigger.

President Gordon MacRae said with new exhibitors and dealers attending this year's event and even more already putting their hands up for next year's event, the fair would likely out-grow its venue at The Pavilion which might be a worry as they've already out-grown every other venue in town.

More than 2000 visitors are expected to walk through the doors today and about 1000 tomorrow, some to meet dealers, have pieces valued, go for a browse or on the hunt for a specific treasure.

Mr MacRae said there was a wealth of arms history to discover at the event but the fair wasn't all about arms as some might expect.

He said model toys, china, ornaments, antique furniture, jewellery, books, military items and more would be on display and for sale tomorrow, so excited collectors had best bring their wallets. …
