Childhood Dreams Come True for Former Toowoomba Boy

IN-FORM trainer Tony Gollan had two childhood dreams fulfilled within 40 minutes on Ipswich Cup Day.

The former Toowoomba boy now training at Eagle Farm was still glorying in the triumph of winning the Eye Liner Stakes with Alma's Fury when Ali Boy won the Ipswich Cup.

It's a case of when you're hot, you're hot for Gollan who has enjoyed great success with the Boom Brothers - half-brothers Spirit of Boom and Temple of Boom - in the Winter Carnival.

"That was amazing. We're having a fantastic Winter Carnival," Gollan said after the Cup.

"I can't thank my staff at home enough and all the owners that entrust us with these horses; everything is going very, very well.

"It's a big thrill; growing up in Toowoomba, these sorts of races are the races you really want to win. I won the Toowoomba Cup last year and to win this Cup this year; yeah, they're the races you dream of when you first start training and it's fantastic. …
