PS30,000 Charity Win for Amanda

Article excerpt

BIG.HEARTED TV presenter Amanda Lamb has won a massive PS30,000 for a North East charity she supports.

The Sara's Hope Foundation was set up in memory of Sara Hoburn, from Whitley Bay, who tragically lost a two-year battle with cancer at the age of 16 in 2001.

After her death, Sara's parents Ged and Julie opened a holiday retreat in Crete offering respite for children and young people with cancer and their families.

They appeared on Channel 4's A Place in the Sun, presented by Amanda Lamb, when they were looking for a property abroad and the TV star fell in love with the charity.

She became an ambassador for the cause and when she was asked to take part in All Star Mr & Mrs, screened last Wednesday night, she chose Sara's foundation as her charity.

Amanda and husband Sean won the PS30,000 jackpot prize and she is delighted to be able to donate it to the charity.

It will pay for 20 families flights over to the sun-kissed island where children with life threatening cancer and their families take a well deserved break from the stresses of illness. …
