Capello Has Turned Us into a Force Again, Says Russian Ace

RUSSIA have a point to prove as they start their World Cup campaign against South Korea tonight (KO 11pm.) In Russia's last outing in 2002 a highly-fancied outfit slumped out at the group stage with just three points.

Now after 12 years in the wilderness they are back on the big stage managed by wily ex-England boss Fabio Capello and are looking to set the record straight.

Defender Vasili Berezutski says Capello has transformed a rigid side into one with flair and teeth.

"We have big things to prove," said Berezutski. "Our objective is to play more than three games, to qualify from our group and after that we will see.

"Capello demands discipline and hard work, giving 100% in every session.

"Nobody knows us from outside as everybody plays in the domestic competition." But they know they face a tough task and mid-fielder Viktor Fayzulin paid tribute to the South Koreans, who they beat 2-1 in a friendly last year.
