THINGS didn't go to plan for the Queensland Subdistricts team in Sydney on Saturday.

Playing in the curtain-raiser to the Wallabies' third Test win over France at the Sydney Football Stadium and featuring Ipswich Rangers players Tom Dwyer and Isaac Creedy, the Queenslanders were humbled 60-19 by NSW Subdistricts.

Dwyer, who played in a losing Queensland side two years ago, had gone to Sydney confident of an upset. However, the gulf in standard of the teams was soon apparent, even if the score flattered the home team.

"The scoreline blew out a bit and probably doesn't reflect how we went," outside-centre Dwyer said.

"They're a very good side."

Dwyer believes NSW's dominance was in part due to their preparation, which included five games together in the lead-up to the Barraclough Shield Clash, against the likes of NSW Country.

Queensland, in contrast, had played together just once.

It's a lead Dwyer believes Queensland should follow, even if it means scheduling matches mid-week. …
