Family's Walk of Life; Sisters Go the Distance for Breast Cancer

KAREN Kerslake and her sisters had a very personal reason for taking part in the Walk 4 Breast Cancer yesterday.

While they were keen to show support for all women affected by the disease, they decided to walk from Coolum to Noosa for their sister-in-law, who has been fighting breast cancer.

It wasn't the first time Ms Kerslake and her sisters Wendy Byrne and Gayle Ogden, had done the walk - but yesterday was more meaningful.

"Our sister-in-law has gone through it and survived," she said.

"She's got the all-clear. She did lose one breast but she's come through all that and everything is good now.

"Even though it hasn't happened to us, we want to do it for everyone else going through it."

Out of all the years that team leader Karen has done the walk, yesterday included some extra hills in the route, making it the most difficult so far.

"I've done it for eight years and it's been going for 10 years," she said. …
