CHASE has been working diligently to co-ordinate and promote NAIDOC Week July 6-13 activities and events throughout Coffs Harbour and we encourage all of the community to come along to participate and enjoy all of the NAIDOC Week activities with our Gumbainggirr Aboriginal Community.

What's on

TOMORROW

Panthers RLFC v Grafton Ghosts RLFC at Rex Hardaker Oval. NAIDOC to open with elders' Welcome to Country, Wajaar Ngarlu (Earth Water) traditional dance group, singing of national anthem by Aboriginal youth, jumping castle, face painting and elders' tent. Formalities to take place prior to First Grade kick-off.

MONDAY

Coffs Harbour City Council official NAIDOC flag raising and NAIDOC Award Ceremony at the council chambers. There will be an official flag raising by the mayor and local elder as well as acknowledgements and tributes, followed by a community march toward the Coffs Cenotaph.

Aboriginal Veterans Commemoration Ceremony at C.ex Coffs. Full veteran commemoration ceremony with laying of wreaths, acknowledgements and tributes. Morning tea and jumping castle and NAIDOC Community Award Ceremony to take place in C.ex Coffs.

TUESDAY

Elders Morning Tea at Aging, Disability and Health Care on Grafton St, Coffs Harbour. Morning tea for elders and clients, plus the community is invited to attend.

Galambila Family Fun Day at Galambila Aboriginal Health Service on Boambee St, Coffs Harbour. Family fun day featuring military inspired activities, kids' rides, jumping castle, face painting and free lunch.

Deadly Factor at Jetty Memorial Theatre, our showcase youth talent quest (spin-off X Factor). Eight acts will perform and compete for the prizemoney and title of having the Deadly Factor. A great night of fun and entertainment hosted by our youth for our youth, highlighting and promoting the fact that our region is full of undiscovered talent. A major event on the CHASE NAIDOC calendar for the past three years, 2014 aims to raise the level and promises to be popular. …
