POLICE want to trace the people in these pictures as part of a summer crackdown on shoplifters. Officers are carrying out extra patrols around shopping areas in a bid to deter thieves coming into North Tyneside, and have warned offenders 'You are being watched.'.

Chief Inspector Jamie Pitt, of North Tyneside Area Command, said: "We've released images of people we need to speak to who it's believed can help with our enquiries into these offences.

"With the majority of shoplifting offences detected our message is clear, if you come to North Tyneside to steal the likelihood is you will get caught.

"For those who aren't identified and dealt with instantly, we will make further inquiries and if necessary release CCTV images to the public in an effort to solve those offences which are still undetected."

Anyone who recognis-es the people in the images or who has any information that could help police with their enquiries is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, for the attention of North Tyneside Area Command Intelligence Unit, quoting the reference number, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
