ROCKHAMPTON'S Alex Glover has seen his friends suffer for too long.

Depression has affected many of his friends, and he's taking a step to change their lives.

The 22-year-old told The Morning Bulletin how seeing his transgender friends unhappy had prompted him to bring the issue of sexual reassignment to the forefront and raise money towards their surgery.

"I have a lot of transgender friends in Rockhampton and you hear from them that people are attempting suicide over it," Alex said.

"My friends say they're living in agony because they've living in the wrong body."

Alex knows close to a dozen people in Rockhampton suffering from transgender issues, while five close transgender friends eager to have the surgery.

"To have the surgery would change their lives," the TAFE student said. …
