HAXBY can grab a valuable prize with victory in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.

The Roger Variantrained youngster has any amount of top form with a host of smart juveniles, most recently when fifth to American monster Hootenanny in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The winner was on a different level but there was not much between the rest and in four outings to date he has yet to run a bad race, dating back to his introduction second to Kool Kompany, who looks as a good as anything seen so far in the juvenile department this term.

His stable could not be in better form and he is just preferred over the filly Tiggy Wiggy as, while she has even stronger form to her name, the Richard Hannon filly has to give Varian's runner 5lb and that might just swing the balance.

Music Master arguably ran the race of his life at the Royal meeting and as a result takes strong Group One credentials into the Group Three Al Basti Equiworld Hackwood Stakes. Always a talented individual who moves well in his races, his career has gone to new heights since being tried at six furlongs, starting when second to the useful Tropics in a Group Three at the end of last season.

Although he had no trouble landing the odds at Warwick on his reappearance, the Henry Candy-trained four-yearold was too keen when beaten in a Listed race at Windsor but con-firmed his trainer's belief he is an improver with his effort in fourth behind the outstanding Slade Power, who has since won the July Cup.

It will be interesting to see if the selection can remain on an upward curve, in which he case he ought to be very hard to beat.

Provenance must prove a tough nut to crack back against her own sex in the Al Basti Equiworld EBF Breeding Winners Fillies' Handicap.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Galileo filly is a half-sister to Group One-winning Integral and looked useful herself when a smooth winner on the Kempton Polytrack in May from three subsequent scorers, before meeting with an odds-on reverse at Salisbury. …
