NEWCASTLE Pride has swung into action for its seventh year.

e three-day event, celebrating the region's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, began with gigs at Newcastle's Times Square and the Town Moor last T night.

But the event highlight will be today's carnivalstyle parade.

It will start at noon from outside the Civic Centre and will end at the Town T Moor at approximately 1pm. Participants should assemble on Ceremonial Way outside the W Civic Centre from 11am. Ceremonial Way is the path W that separates the council oces from the church grounds.

It will head to St Mary's Place and down John Dobson Street before entering Northumberland Street.

It will then turn on to Blackett Street, along Percy Street before turning left on to Claremont Road. Next up is the archway leading under the underpass into Exhibition Park and then over on to the Town Moor. T is year's theme is Pride Across the Decades and organisers are encouraging everyone to try to dress as outrageously as possible. …
