Great Ride for a Cause but Way out of Form

EACH day brings new surprises living here in Gladstone.

On Saturday it was just one of those days. I was lucky enough to be a part of a great 104km bike riding day through the amazing Boyne Valley all in aid of the Chaplain program in Central Queensland schools.

Imagine this, a 6am start on the road to drive to the valley, for a 7.30am start of hill riding in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

We had four groups of different riding levels all following each other in stages. Each group had support vehicles front and rear to let passing motorists know what we were doing and I've got to say we didn't have any dramas with any unhappy drivers at all.

We broke the ride into 15km or so stages just to be able to stretch the legs and get some food and drink into our aching bodies at each stop. Let me tell you they were very welcome from a bloke who hasn't really had a full long ride for what seems like an eternity (that was me if you didn't guess). …
