Children's Party Terror as Woman Is Stabbed

A WOMAN was stabbed repeatedly with a broken bottle in front of children at a barbecue party in the garden of a London home.

The victim, in her thirties, was today in a serious but stable condition in hospital with multiple stab wounds following the frenzied attack in Clapham at 5.45pm last night.

Detectives were today hunting a man who entered the PS500,000 house, in a crescent of terraced family homes near Clapham Common, attacked the woman and sped away in a silver Peugeot van. It is believed the victim was among the guests at a party for about 20 ten and 11-yearolds to mark the start of the summer holidays.

Neighbours told how she ran through the house into the road outside screaming before collapsing in the road covered in blood.

One described how the laughter and shouts of happy children were shattered by screams.

She said: "I heard the barbecue and it all seemed happy. There were lots of children playing and laughing. …
