LIKE a storybook tale, the sun was shining and there was a lot of singing mixed with some glamorous costumes for The Opera at The Channon yesterday afternoon.

The annual event, from the combined Rotary Clubs of Lismore, was blessed with blue skies and sunny temperatures, to the pleasure of Gae Ferris and Paul Denmeade, from The Opera at The Channon committee.

"This is one of the best weather days we've ever had," Mr Denmeade said.

"In 17 years, this is the best weather I've ever seen."

Mr Denmeade said around 400 tickets to the event, which was raising money for Our House and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, had been presold, but the beautiful weather conditions saw a total of 515 people walk through the gates at Coronation Park.

Mixing the wonderful weather with world class performers from Opera Australia - Natalie Aoryan, Margaret Plummer, Martin Buckingham, Michael Honeyman and compere Tama Matheson - why wouldn't you want to spend your Sunday afternoon at The Channon? …
