$150,000 to Help Give Cancer the Heave-Ho

Article excerpt

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone involved in this year's Relay for Life.

With your help we all helped raise more than $150,000 for cancer research.

Now in its 11th year we must all be happy with what is achieved with such a small number of people in our local area.

Think about it, there are places much bigger than us around Queensland with more people to participate who raise less money for this vital campaign so we all should be very proud.

To watch and see the raw emotion on stage Sunday morning when our wonderful organisers came to speak was a huge highlight. It just shows how much they care not only for cancer research but also the fundraising group. These people take time out of their daily lives to put together a wonderful highlight in the social calendar each year. This year they've done a wonderful job putting teams together and making the 18-hour event run as smoothly as possible.

I want to say a huge thank you to many people including Rotary Sunrise for the welcome breakfast Sunday morning, Rob and Deb for being wonderful MCs through the time, and to each and every walker who was there with their batons I say thank you. …
