GEOFF Murphy has criticised the negative attitude of some locals who he believes are holding the region back.

"There are some people who just don't like to see growth, they don't like to see change... that's probably what's held Rockhampton back for the last 55 years," the CQ NRL Bid chairman said.

Ryan Mathew Newport: Yes, I swear the majority of Rocky people would go back to riding horses and sweeping their dirt floors with straw if they could.

Paul A. Hoolihan: The minnows want to get into a smaller puddle, maybe it is because it makes them look bigger. Most of them are small people with even smaller minds who only want to feather their own nest.

Kieran Powell: From the people I've spoken to they are worried a football stadium being built and every house/food place/pub in a 10km radius going up by another 25% in price. I don't think the people are holding it back. I think it's better off going where the population can afford to support it because I don't know many that want it. …
