IMAGINE arriving home to find an intruder rifling through your children's belongings and helping themselves to your valuables.

This is the terrifying reality that confronted a Bundaberg man who armed himself with a hockey stick after returning home earlier this year to find James Eugene Neal, 44, in his family home.

Appearing via video link in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court yesterday, Neal pleaded guilty to a number of offences including unlawful entry, possession of a dangerous drug and two counts of obstructing a police officer.

Bundaberg Police Prosecutor Senior Constable Vicki Kennedy-Grills told the court at about 4pm on March 8 Neal was walking down Targo St when he noticed the slightly open window of a home.

Snr Const Kennedy-Grills said Neal slid open the window and climbed inside where he rifled through drawers in the children's room and continued through the rest of the house.

"He removed the pillow slips from two pillows and put cash and jewellery, a DVD player and camera inside," she said. …
