Val's Business Idea Cleans Up on Teeside; NICOLAALL, Lamps A Chance for Local Charities, Voluntary Organisations and Advice Groups to Reach Our Readers

VAL Middleton came to Five Lamps asking for help and advice in setting up a cleaning business.

She had lots of experience but had never run a business and was slightly apprehensive.

She first attended a work-k shop that covered the pros and cons of being selfemployed, then started with one to one help, advice and guidance with Ian Garforth, Enterprise Coach at Five Lamps.

Val was placed on the V New Enterprise Allowance programme which provided her with some financial assistance post start-up.

Following some market research, Val saw that there V was a healthy demand for her service.

She attended another three of Five Lamps' workshops which covered topics including ways to find and keep customers, how to network, health and safety, finding premises and self-assessment.

Val was ready to start tradV -ing in May 2014.

Three months after start up, Val's hard work is paying off. V Warrior Clean is proving to be a success, with Val finding V plenty of work and enjoying being her own boss. …
