THE cocktail of sun, sea and foreign shores is transformative. It's the suspension of reality: abroad, normal rules (of dress, of morality) don't apply. The German newspaper Bild commented on this gleefully this week, with an article arguing that Brits' behaviour abroad amounts to illness. Strains include "underwear amnesia", "vodka cough" and "Prince Harry Syndrome" (a compulsion to strip).

But unusually this is a level playing field: celebrities do it too! Kate Moss was papped at a Turkish airport slightly smashed (vodka cough alert) and apparently "blagging" her way onto an easyJet flight home. It must have been the heat to blame for Orlando Bloom's supposed swipe at teen car crash Justin Bieber (who seems to suffer from permanent Prince Harry Syndrome) ouside Cipriani in Ibiza on Wednesday that, or Bieber's provocative interest in Bloom's ex-Miranda Kerr (who surely as a former Victoria's Secret angel has never had underwear amnesia). …
