WHEN Pamela Tatt gets out the yarn and knitting needles, husband Des shakes his head and smiles, then ducks out to the shed.

Far from being just a passionate hobby, Mrs Tatt's love for crochet, knitting and sewing has helped countless people in the past decade.

The 66-year-old founded online volunteer group Knit4Charities in August 2004, and the 38 members and 11 partners celebrated their 10 years by connecting face-to-face at their annual conference, held for the first time at Maroochy Waterfront Resort over the weekend.

After feeling "bored and lonely" at her home in Victoria, Mrs Tatt began the group as a way to connect with others who shared her love for all things crafty. …
