ATHLETICS: As the Commonwealth Games drew to a close in Glasgow, Eungella product Craig Burns was reflecting on the 11-day experience with fondness.

He and his team competed against some of the best 400m runners in the world in the 4x400m relay final, and Burns said he was still pinching himself looking back on it.

He said the trip had been a "dream come true".

"The whole games experience has been really fun," Burns said.

"It's still a really funny feeling, to be honest, being here as a Commonwealth Games athlete. I'm just a bloke who grew up in Eungella and loves to run."

Burns ran the third leg of his team's heat, in which they finished second behind the Bahamas and automatically qualified for the final, which was won by England.

They had it all to do from the outside lane in the final, and despite a sixth-place finish, Burns said he was ecstatic with his and his team's effort. …
