Police Launch Probe into Death

POLICE are investigating the death of a man with learning and physical disabilities.

Scott Hall, 28, was discovered by members of his family unconscious at his home in Caterhouse Road in the Newton Hall area of Durham at around 8pm on Saturday.

Mr Hall was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, where after failing to regain consciousness he died in the early hours of yesterday.

While a post-mortem examination is to take place to try to determine a formal cause of death, police are also investigating an assault on Mr Hall which happened 11 days ago.

At around 10.15pm on Thursday, July 24, Mr Hall was attacked near to Newton Hall library, at the junction of Carr House Drive and Alnwick Road. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later released.

Police have spoken to a number of people in the area who witnessed the incident.

Two youths from Newton Hall, both aged 15, were arrested in connection with the incident the same day. …
