Frances Ha Netflix A New York woman (who doesn't really have an apartment) who apprentices for a dance company (even though she's not really a dancer) and throws herself headlong into her dreams won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Some might find this film quirky and endearing while others will find the whole thing, including Greta Gerwig's Frances, hugely annoying. It's also a black-andwhite contemporary film, which doesn't help if you're even moderately in the camp that thinks this might be too hipster. As grating as parts of the film can be, there are more moments that made me laugh out loud and want to tell my friends about it.

Shaun of the Dead Thursday, ITV2, 9pm The often imitated but never beaten zomcom remains one of the films that you can't help but stay up to watch, even if you own it on DVD or Blu-ray, when it comes on TV just as you're heading off to bed on a school night.
