FOLLOWING what was a busy day in terms of company announcements with several FTSE companies releasing half-year results, the FTSE 100 index closed in marginally positive territory just ve points higher at 6682.5.

Aggreko released its half-year trading results which showed lower underlying prots, compared to the same period last year, due to the impact of currency uctuations.

e company, which is involved in the rental of power generation and temperature control equipment and powered both the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the World Cup in Brazil, saw pre-tax prots fall 10% to PS130m.

Operating margins were also lower within the Power Projects division, impacted by contract declines from the military and Japan. In terms of revenue generation, the Americas was the best regional performer with rising underlying revenue growth driven largely by continuing strong demand from the US oil and gas business. …
