A TIP-OFF from a member of the public resulted in police arresting a man and a woman after an alleged drug deal in the company of a young child in Coffs Harbour on Monday.

The Coffs Harbour man, 41, was found in possession of seven street deals of methylamphetamine and was also later charged over a suspicious house fire, which destroyed a house off Rickards Rd, Sandy Beach, in March.

Police were told a woman sitting inside a silver Holden Commodore with a young boy, and a man driving a Jeep Compass, were seen to act suspiciously in Harbour Dr about 12.30pm.

Detectives from the Coffs Clarence Target Action Group stopped both vehicles in Camperdown St a short time later.

Police said that as officers spoke to the woman about having a three-year-old child unrestrained in the sedan, they noticed drug paraphernalia littered in the vehicle.

Officers searched the woman and the car and located two street deals of methylamphetamine as well as prescription medication in her purse. …
