Generosity Applauded; Thanks to the Rural Firies for Saving Our House

Article excerpt

MANY thanks to the firefighters who since last week have been working on the bushfires off McGills Rd in the Kungala area. We arrived home to find our property burnt out with the fire front about to hit our house.

Special thanks to Coramba, Karangi and Kungala Rural Fire Service volunteers who saved our house.

Next door and across the road weren't so lucky, losing everything.

Please give generously to these local men and women who are legends in our eyes.

TO ALL the racegoers who happily waved to the State Emergency Service volunteers controlling parking at the racecourse during the Coffs Harbour Gold Cup.

Double thumbs up to those who added a friendly, beaming smile to the above.

Add a big toe to those who wound down their window and said, "thanks buddy" or "good job mate" to the volunteers.

Add the other big toe to the racegoers who even stopped to congratulate the men and women in orange for the professional job they were doing.

To the small minority who thought it too much to donate a gold coin to ensure they were safely parked but not parked-in as they would have been if it were free for all, no comment.

AS THE soccer season comes to a close for the younger kids this weekend, please remember to thank your coaches and club officials on the weekend. Remember they are parent volunteers and your child wouldn't have had a team this year without them.

Invite your coach over for a barbecue, get to know them, reach out and say thank you for all of the time and effort that they have given to your families.

TO ALL the coaches at Woolgoolga soccer with almost every junior team in the semi finals. They must be doing something right.

TO BEC, Narelle and all the swimming teachers at the Coffs Harbour War Memorial Pool.

A GREAT big thank you to Gavin, Steve and all of the wonderful staff at a local aged care facility for making our 60th wedding anniversary such a memorable occasion. You went above and beyond your duty.

The photos and decorations were great and although my husband may not be able to remember the gathering, he really enjoyed himself. Your efforts were greatly appreciated by all of the family. …
