SUNDAY night I had one of those a[approximately]thank god I live in the Northern Rivers' epiphanies.

I had just turned off the Pacific Hwy at the top of St Helena and was cruising along Coolamon Scenic Drive when I let out my usual sigh of relief.

I had the whole family nearly asleep in the back seat after paying a flying visit to Sydney for my father's 80th birthday.

There's nothing like spending 48 hours in Sydney to make you want to hurry home.

Sydney is lovely, but you can't mention the state capital's name without talking about a[approximately]traffic' in the next sentence.

Parking and traffic are just part of the city's DNA. Residents I know are obsessed about it and even plan trips around whether the traffic is going to be bad or whether they'll be able to get a park at the other end. …
