BULL RIDING: Bull riding isn't the easiest sport to get into, but Mirani boy Jacob Marshall is glad he found a way.

The 14-year-old had his first poddy ride about four years ago, and recently had his first competition win.

He hasn't looked back since his fortuitous introduction to the sport.

"I've always loved it but I didn't know how to get into it," Marshall said.

"When I first started I used to go up the road to Dallas Coben's place - he supplies a lot of the bulls for some of the competitions - and get on the back of little calves and have a ride of a Friday night.

"He (Coben) has helped out a real lot; he has a lot of bulls up at his house and I probably wouldn't have got into it if it wasn't for him."

Marshall recently took out the junior bull ride at the Bowen Bullmania, at which Nebo brothers Justin and Mitch Paton shared the spoils in the open bull rides. …
