CLEVELAND RETIRED MEN'S ASSOCIATION: Mike Birt spoke of his role as an offi-cial FA representative for England's Ladies Football teams. Acting as an ambassador for the various age groups he had travelled the world. Originally an FA referee, officiating for over 35 years, he reached Central League level, visiting most of the northern league grounds. As a senior representative of the FA, in 2006 he was allocated a seat on the FA Womens Committee whose main objective was to ensure that womens football ran in an organised manner. Through this he would travel abroad with various ladies teams, from Under-15s to Under- 23s and the senior team as required. In this role he visited Chile, and Sweden, with the Under-23s, next time to Belgium with the Under-17s, which led to a Dublin training camp. An arrangement with the Norwegian FA led to training camps at La Manga in Spain, later to Austria, Larnaca,and Umag in Croatia with the Under-19s, not forgetting a tournament at Scunthorpe! …
