IF YEARS of trying to get the best out of Ipswich's next generation has taught Geoff Dieckmann anything, it is that you can't achieve much by doing nothing.

The mission statement of his four new educational e-books is something that students may have heard him bleat out in the classroom over the years.

The phrase "stop jellyfishing around" sums up what Mr Dieckmann is trying to get across not only to students, but to parents and to his fellow educators.

He has packed 40 years of experience in to his books: Mr D's Classroom Hints, Mr D's Lessons for Life, Mr D's Survival Guide for Parents and Mr D's Teaching and Classroom Management Hints for Beginning Teachers.

"I stated putting my ideas down about five years ago, but I had always been keen on teaching study and exam preparation skills," Mr Dieckmann said.

"I was in charge of the Year 11s at Ipswich Grammar for 20 years and I was always battering the children with these skills, as well as life skills."

The concept of the survival guide started out as something Mr Dieckmann would distribute among the parents of his students for free, but he decided to expand on his range of topics and turn it into a series of helpful guides. …
