Vet Surgery Still in Business; Clinic Staffout Visitingsick Pets

A SHOPPING complex fire police believe was deliberately lit gutted their business and took the life of their beloved cat, but Better Pet Vets clinic is back on its feet.

Business-owners, couple Ashley Young and Holly Goldring, and their staff have worked tirelessly since the fire last Friday.

"It has been a wild ride," Mr Young said.

"There's a lot to organise in a hurry. Initially getting patients injured by the fire stabilised. Now there's the clean-up and getting everything organised."

Staff members have returned to work, visiting homes to tend to sick pets.

"We're out on the road and our house has been turned into chaos," Mrs Goldring said. "Our dog Minty loves it, she thinks there's a party there every day."

The couple said their mobile service had been well supported by the Mackay community. They have also secured the lease on a temporary space in a neighbouring building, allowing them to continue close to full operations in the near future. …
