Kell in Top Form as NSSCC Season Heads towards Climax

INGLEBY Barwick tin top ace Steve Kell recorded his second-best ever finish as the Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship heads for its climax.

Kell was fourth overall in the second of the two races for cars in classes B, C, D and H at Cadwell Park.

The Ford Sierra XR4 driver was fifth in the earlier round at the Lincolnshire circuit.

With just the two races at Croft on September 20-21 to go, Kell is now up to third in the class B table after picking up third place points in both rounds at Cadwell.

The winner of that class - and indeed the overall title - looks set to be either Mike Cutt (BMW M3) or Andrew Morrison (Seat Leon Cupra) who led the field home on each occasion in the latest rounds, each enjoying a win apiece.

Darlington's former champ Paul Moss (Citroen Saxo) ruled himself out of a title challenge after gearbox problems condemned him to a non-finish and a non-start early in the season at home circuit Croft.

But he hasn't been out of the top two in class D since and his two third place on the road finishes this time made it four class victories on the trot. …
