A United Front; Gunners and Grafton City Proposal to Join Forces from Next Year

GRAFTON'S football players could have another pathway to North Coast Football's Premier League.

As it is now, footballers must join either Westlawn Tigers or Maclean Bobcats to get a taste of the North Coast's top competition.

A South Grafton Ex-Servicemen's Club meeting tomorrow night could change all of that, with an historic merger on the cards.

The proposal would see South Services Gunners and Grafton City join forces to create Grafton United, which it is hoped would play in the men's and women's Premier League.

It is proposed the clubs would combine from the 15s age group through to seniors.

Based on figures provided by North Coast Football, this could see 11 teams playing as Grafton United in 2015, including five senior men's teams and two women's teams.

Gunners president Shanon Tough said the colours of each club will live on however, as it will have no effect on juniors. …
