Hornets Agree to a Move; Jets Stick with Stronger Contest and Resist Merger with Northern Rivers

THE future of the Bilambil Jets hangs in the balance as dramas surrounding the Country Rugby League boundary restructure continue to escalate.

CRL supremo Terry Quinn will meet with Queensland Rugby League boss Rob Moore to discuss the issue today.

Under the restructure, all rugby league clubs in New South Wales are set to play in a NSW competition, which in this case would be the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League.

Cudgen Hornets have already agreed to move back, and have already advertised for players to play in the NRRRL next year.

NRRRL clubs are set to approve the move in coming weeks.

The Jets want nothing to do with a move to the Northern Rivers, as president Peter Rigney said the club were "more than comfortable" in the "stronger", "better-run" competition.

Quinn said he and Moore would formulate strategies to deal with the club, which could be forced to move into Queensland territory. …
