BEN Lott and Alex Walker, both graduates of the Northumberland Tennis Academy, served their way to success in the men's and ladies' singles events at the Adderstone Foundation Northumberland Open Tournament.

The competition was held at the Northumberland Club in Jesmond. It is one of the largest open events of its kind in the UK and has been held almost continuously since the 1880s.

A near record level of entries was received for events ranging from boys' and girls' under-eights to family handicap doubles and veterans' contests.

The men's and ladies' events were part of the Aegon British Tour and attracted a large entry of top players from around the country.

Lott and Walker followed up their singles successes by winning their respective doubles events.

Lott partnered his brother Matthew to a fifth Open doubles title and Walker teamed up with Deborah Armstrong, a member of the Northumberland ladies' team, in the ladies' doubles.

At under-eight level, the boys' singles was won by Samuel Knowles and the girls' event by Grace Hildreth. …
