Family Celebrates 60-Year Love Affair

SATURDAY, September 13 saw the family of Leo and Barbara Goodfellow of Safety Beach gather at the family home to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.

Leo and Barbara (nee Burbidge) were married in Dorrigo, September 11, 1954. Leo at the time was a mechanic and truck owner, Barbara worked in the office of the local garage owned by her parents Jack and Christina.

Leo and Barbara went on to grow their transport business in the Dorrigo area to encompass bulk milk pick-up and transport, tip trucks, crane hire, stock feed sales and interstate transport. They sold the business in 1982 and settled in Safety Beach.

Leo and Barbara have four children, Robyn, Mark, Brett and Scott and are loving grandparents to 10 grandchildren ranging in age from 16 to 32 years.

From 1983 to his retirement in 2005 Leo worked in varying roles for local bus companies.

In retirement Leo's main interests are family, classic cars and the Coffs C.ex Classic and Touring car club while Barbara enjoyed gardening, reading, walking on the beach and being involved with the local View Club. …
