A 17-YEAR-old has been denied bail and remanded in custody after a Mackay magistrate deemed him an "unacceptable risk of committing further offences".

Magistrate Damien Dwyer said Harley Foxley-Connolly had no fixed address, he was alone, unemployed and had a significant criminal history.

Foxley-Connolly is charged with committing four counts of fraud and one count of burglary on September 19 in Mackay and breaching bail on September 10 in Airlie Beach.

It is alleged Foxley-Connolly stole a handbag from an unlocked vehicle and used a credit card found within the bag, the Mackay Magistrates Court was told.

Legal Aid Queensland defence solicitor Chelsea Cross had submitted Foxley-Connolly, who only turned 17 a month ago, could find accommodation with Kalyan House with the view of finding more fixed accommodation.

The court was told this is a youth accommodation service that offers shelter to anyone under the age of 25. …
