CRICKET: She's a Queensland representative in both cricket and football and now Charli Knott has received a scholarship from former Australian women's cricket captain Jodie Fields.

Quite a feat for an 11-year-old.

Knott has just picked up the inaugural Jodie Fields Scholarship, from which she'll receive $2000 to go towards new cricket gear and education.

"I was really excited; I wasn't really expecting something like that from cricket," she said.

Knott's outstanding achievements in cricket at such a young age are made even more incredible given the fact she's only new to the sport.

She was introduced to cricket a couple of years ago by her dad, whom she credits for her success.

"I've only been playing for one and a half or two years," Knott said.

"I do enjoy playing lots of sports, but my dad helped me a lot to get up to this level in cricket.

"I'm really looking forward to playing cricket some more - hopefully professionally one day. …
