Heroes' Call Saved Their Nau's Life

WITH eight children, 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Elani Cozens could be forgiven for losing count of her ever-expanding family.

But when she was clutching her chest and gasping for air in a respiratory attack, two of her grandsons saved her life.

The Aroona grandmother and her grandsons Josiah Olig, 11, and Asher Olig, 9, yesterday were reunited with one of the paramedics called to help after the boys made the phone call that saved her.

The two boys have been applauded for their mature attitude and quick-thinking when they calmly dialled an ambulance for their grandmother.

Josiah had just put his little brother Isaac to bed when his grandmother, or Nau as she is affectionate known, suddenly couldn't move or breathe.

He immediately called Triple 0 while Asher stayed by her side.

"She gave me the phone and I called Triple 0 and I was talking to the ambulance and they told me to roll her over and that's when she passed out on the floor," Josiah said. …
